US DOT SAP Training

What is SAP Training ?

SAP-60-60-Training-alcohol-drug-training
The Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates that
commercial transportation employers provide 2 hours of
drug and alcohol training to their employees that operate
vehicles.  This is better known as 60/60 training, (us dot sap training) where
employees receive 60 minutes of drug training, and 60
minutes of alcohol training.

Note:  For insurance liability, it is always wise that a company ensures that a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) provide this training to employers.

Consequences

A driver who have violated DOT alcohol and drug regulations is prohibited from performing DOT safety-sensitive duties for any motor carrier, until they complete a SAP evaluation. In addition, if a driver receives a DUI/DWI on their personal license, it may impact their CDL, depending on the state; resulting in the driver having to see a SAP, as well as an attorney.
